W ithin the first two centuries after Christs
ascension into heaven the early Christians were scattered by persecution over a
wide geographic area that included Europe and Asia. Revelation 12:14 says
"And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly
into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and
times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent." A portion of Gods
persecuted church settled in a place that we now call Wales, a small country
which is part of the British Isles. From these early Welsh Baptists which can be
traced back to those first few centuries, we trace our lineage.
Like other Baptists, the Welsh Baptists hold to an independent, local,
autonomous form of church polity. Holding to the New Testament as our only rule
of both faith AND practice, we believe that each local assembly or church, led
by a pastor, constitutes the entire organization. In todays business terms
you might refer to it as a "flat" organization. We do not add layers
of management. The Bible gives an example of one other church office. When a
church reaches a size such that the pastor(s) are distracted from the ministry
by the waiting on of members physical needs, deacons may be appointed by the
body to accommodate those physical needs. Unless that condition exists, deacons
are not necessary. The Pastor, or Elder, is the only office of authority.
There are many such independent Baptist churches in the world today,
including one in Las Vegas, Nevada. Over 10 years ago a group of people,
convicted by the things they had been recently taught from Gods word, left
their jobs in the casinos in order to be a part of a newly formed church. Over
the last several years, several members from another such church in Detroit,
Michigan have relocated to the Phoenix valley. Being closer to Las Vegas than
Detroit, they moved their membership to the Las Vegas Church. Desiring that,
peradventure, God may have mercy and establish another such local assembly in
the Phoenix area, we pray daily to that end. (Psalms 127:1a "Except the
LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it:") Our Pastor is
Elder Conrad Jarrell of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Currently we meet and worship together at 1 1:00
AM each Sunday in
Phoenix,
Arizona. If you would like additional information send email using our contact
